Women of Gold for International Women's Day 2024
Join creator, Megan Champion, artists and special guests, to launch the Women of Gold project and celebrate women in our community through the power of art.
Women of Gold is a public art project showcasing diverse groups of women and their contributions to our community.
In a powerful statement, women from different industries and backgrounds will stand together to discuss leadership, career, community and motherhood to highlight the value of women's paid and unpaid contributions, the impact of diverse storytelling, and the International Women’s Day theme, ‘Count Her In: Accelerating gender equality through economic empowerment’.
The multimedia, immersive experience includes the Women of Gold short film (shot by Mitch Nivalis), podcast series, a soundscape of women’s voices (from our own Aimee Chapman) and artwork (by the incredible Sara McQueenie, Annie Brigdale, Julie Andrews, Ginny Jeong, Rhayven Jane and Lauren Starr) exhibited at Pennyweight Outdoor Story Gallery.

Mitch Nivalis is a photographer and film maker with a strong commitment to social change, drawn to projects that have the potential to make an impact and improve visibility and aspects of our society through advocacy for Indigenous, LGBTIQ, multicultural and disability communities; as well as projects around mental health, the environment, education, gender equality and the prevention of violence against women.
One current inspiring project is ‘Equal The Contest’ Mitch’s debut feature length documentary exploring the Mount Alexander Falcons football club, a new community AFL club created in 2021 by and for women and gender-diverse people, which also explores Mitch’s own journey learning to play football at 42 years of age as an inexperienced, non-binary person.

Incubator Pitch Evening
The Emporium Creative Hub Incubator Program is a 14-week program supported by Creative Victoria and delivered in conjunction with Sertori Consulting and Minds at Work to provide local creative entrepreneurs with the knowledge, tools and advice to boost their creative enterprise. Our third cohort in 2023 have been an inspiration through the program displaying their passion, commitment and creative ideas in each and every session. We are excited to invite you all to meet the participants and learn more about what 2023 (and beyond) holds for these amazing creatives.
As part of this inspiring event, we will be hosting an array of presentations as well as providing the opportunity to network with participants. The event is also an opportunity to witness first-hand how Emporium Creative Hub continues to support and develop our local creative industries to be successful and sustainable, while reinforcing Bendigo’s reputation as the creative and cultural heart of regional Victoria.
